5 mins with Stefano Noferini

Italian DJ and producer Stefano Noferini is, for sure, a main protagonist in the international dance music scene: he’s played the world’s best clubs, hosts a radio show heard across the world, and has many house music hits under his belt – at least one of which you are likely to have gotten down to at some point last year as they are played by everyone from from Paul Van Dyk to Richie Hawtin, and from Carl Cox to #David GUETTA# (who also charted it on his personal Beatport tracklist in December 2009). He plays at The Warehouse Leeds On November 5th and also Karma at Mass on November 12th so we sat down to catch up for 5 minutes...

You've been tipped by lots of people this year as the best DJ of the year… what do you feel about that?

I'm really proud,i think that this is the consideration of the people and only they can make this,i feel that this is my sound and i'm very happy… probably this  is what a lot of people like and this is what i want.

Have you done anything differently this year do you think?

I think that this sound is totally different from usual tech house sound  that we find around now, this is something different

What have been the biggest projects for you?

1996 my first album From Here To the Moon - an electronic prog sound and for me an epic work, then 2 years later Burundi then Move Your Body and of course all of my recent works… i love them all

Have your music tastes shifted much at all? What has got you excited?

I'm excited by the House Music of the 90s and Detroit Techno of the 80s

And what have been the most enjoyable highlights?

A lot, but in general everytime play in a good club or in a place with a good crowd it's a special moment for me , but overall the Beatport nomination for artist of the year – it was a great moment to see my name on the list.

How has the year been for Deeperfect Records?

Big, I'm very happy about the work of my team Mizar the label manager and Gabriele the new senior A&R, this last part of the year a lot of artists  arrive on Deeperfect.

Do you have favourite places to play around the world? IE small clubs or big festivals or…?

I love playing everywhere small or big for me is ok but must be a place where is possible play well, sound system and DJ stage all must be perfect.

What else you got coming up?

A lot of things, my first official App will arrive at end of year and also my first Sound Pack  for Sound To Sample, and of course many other tracks

What should people expect from you at Karma in November?

Good music

Who are you outside of music, what do you like doing?

I'm me, not changed when I make or play music or when I play football with my friends .
