We send someone down to the opening night of new sensation Coloursound at The Warehouse
The Coloursound season one launch went off with a bang in Leeds at The Warehouse this past weekend. With the nights in Leeds and Manchester in some of the best clubs including Sound Control, A Nation Of Shopkeepers, Wire and Leeds University Union, this new night is the freshest thing to hit the dance scene in months! With a massive variety of clubs every night over this season is looking to be different and exciting and the refurbishment of The Warehouse could prove no better venue to hold some of the world's biggest dance DJs including Stacey Pullen and Round Table Knights who set the Coloursound party off. With the brand new Funktion One sound system, the raised DJ booth and brand new lighting, the mix of students and old ravers really made for a great atmosphere as each was looking forward to something tailored to them from the vast line-up of stars.
It is clear Stacey Pullen, who is an innovator for detroit techno really brought the crowd together with his fresh variety of music. With plenty of style he owned the dance floor, dropping a variety of deeper beats and vocals, all of which got the crowd going with people up on shoulders, bouncing around the dance floor. It was a set which really impressed and brought this night the epic headline slot it deserves.
Throughout the night Jordan Peak, who radio 1 has been naming as 'one to watch', really brought some tidy house beats and solid grooves to the night alongside Tiefschwarz, who brought their own touch to the night with a different mix of stimulating and characterful music. With such a diverse collection of tunes and a few classics being dropped, this set made for a great evening, and a wicked first night to launch the Coloursound season. To follow Basti took a different path of some trippy tunes and a few classics thrown in for good measure.

Goings on in The loft also made for a night to remember with the residents carrying the party right through to the early hours… Cera Alba dropped some deeper house alongside London's Huxley, and the guys from Hot Creations including Richy Ahmed and Crosstown's Russ Yallop meant the soulful, creamy and disco flecked vibes lived long all night whilst the crowd lapped it up like cats.
This night brought a blend of baselines and exciting new melodies which caused some imaginative sounds and heavy beats in the main room, something greatly appreciated by the hundreds of clubbers who stayed right to the end. Overall coloursound proved its goal of bringing the best quality sounds to please all of their fans. But this was just the beginning and plenty of people are hyped up for the next night which takes itself to Manchester on October 15th!
